Having bought NI Reaktor a few months ago, I'm finally getting a chance to sit down and play with the various ensembles. This started off as a generative drum loop in Reaktor, then went through some abusive compression in Ableton before being convolved with field recordings in SoundHack.
Release
Delighted to present my first release entitled Mausoleum on the Wyrdman netlabel. Recorded throughout 2012 in Rossmore Park, Monaghan, the piece presents the range of sounds created by the river running in the park from the Rossmore family mausoleum to the man-made Priestfield Lake.
Fruition
"I love it when a plan comes together"
This piece is the result of some months of planning, recording, frustration, and tinkering.
The aim of the piece was to challenge the sublimation of the human body by technology in electroacoustic music. This was done by using a performance by contemporary dancer Liv O'Donoghue as the primary input for the piece. MIDI information was generated by her movements using the Gestural Music Sequencer. This triggered a software piano, and a sampler containing audio of her performance.
